The good, the bad, and are my decorating choices ugly?

The good: I’m totally psyched that Laguardia sells Raw Revolution bars at the CIBO Express, which is the same little kiosk where I was once excited to find hardboiled eggs and cut fruit. (It doesn’t take much to make me happy!) I stocked up on the bars before leaving, because until I actually left the airport and was in Manhattan, I was technically traveling and could expense them. The bad: I’m totally annoyed that my new client is a processed foods distributor. Think frozen dinners, instant everything, and basically preservatives/chemicals galore. There are definitely no raw food bars here! The …

Non-scale victories

Yesterday was a major victory for me, for several reasons. I’m up at Cornell to do various recruiting events, and yesterday was the big career fair (today there is a second smaller one just for engineering students). I knew I’d be seeing a lot of people from my past, so like a high school reunion, I wanted to look sharp. I brought my favorite suit to wear… and then I put it on in the morning and found that it was a little baggy! On the one hand I was disappointed that I wouldn’t look super polished, but on the …

A long-overdue update

Life has been busy, but good. I’ve been doing well on the “eat healthy fat” thing, and have discovered how enjoyable nuts can be. I think so far I’ve gotten healthy fat into every meal except breakfast, because for breakfast I usually just have fruit on the go. But Tuesday’s lunch was a humongous salad with walnuts and then olive oil and vinegar on top, dinner was chicken chili as my meat splurge for the week (I skipped the healthy fat there because I figured the chicken had fat). Wednesday, I brought tomato chickpea soup but then bought a pack …

Miscellany

This morning’s post is a random collection of things I want to post that I’m not even going to bother trying to link together. Public service announcement: check out the Runner’s Wave. Can anyone explain to me what the course for the Queens Half-Marathon is like? NYRR’s explanation kind of sucks. Specifically: does it loop? Is it hilly? And is the start hopefully close enough to the finish that my mom will be able to find her way between the two even though she’s severely directionally challenged? I am doing it no matter what, because I want to finish all …

RBF Inspiration

I first got inspired by Frayed Laces, who asked if we could do something for 50 days, what would it be? I said that I wanted to try to eat raw vegan for 50 days. However, 50 days is a really long time, and seems like kind of a daunting task! I’ve been trying to eat raw vegan lately, and I’ve been doing pretty well on the vegan front, but not so much on the raw front. It’s really hard to eat raw vegan at restaurants or with friends, and at home, there are just many times when I want …
