Week Recap: CalEx Experience Camp

I’ve been struggling all week to explain to coworkers, friends, and family where I was last week. I spent the week volunteering at California Experience Camp (#CalEx), a free summer sleepaway camp for children who have lost a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. And while it’s easy to state the facts like that, it’s not at all easy to describe what it felt like to be there. I heard about camp through a former coworker, who includes Experience Camp every year in her holiday letter and describes it as one of the best weeks of her year. I signed up in …

Weekend Recap: My Favorite Boulder Local Activities

This was another fabulous, albeit short and packed, weekend! On Thursday night, I flew to Chicago for all-day training Friday… and also to meet up with my good friend Caitlin, who moved from Boulder to Chicago last summer. Unfortunately, my flight to Chicago was several hours delayed due to weather, and the delay meant that I couldn’t get to see Caitlin Thursday night for dinner as planned 🙁 Instead, I ate #PlaneDinner (United’s shrimp and sausage paella, which always looks / smells way better than it actually tastes) and got to my hotel just in time to crash into bed …

I had a rough night of travel last night. I accidentally left my driver’s license at home (I had stashed it in a pocket of my ski jacket this weekend and forgotten to retrieve it), which meant some hassle trying to get through TSA security without an ID. But I had forgotten that …

Jeans_and_Reebok_Fast_Flexweave

This post was sponsored by Reebok as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own. This morning, I drove up to the mountains to ski as usual – but rather than driving home later, several of us are sticking around in Vail for the weekend. My friend Sarah had told us about the annual Pink Vail event, a ski day to raise money to fight cancer, and we’ve been looking forward to it for weeks! When I packed for the weekend, rather than adding a pair of heels or rewearing …

Travel Thursday: Fair is a Four-Letter Word

One of my favorite blog authors is Eric Barker, who writes thought-provoking and well-researched columns over at Barking Up the Wrong Tree. (He also recently published a book by the same name, if you prefer to do your reading offline.) And to kick off the year, he wrote a great post addressing a popular New Year’s resolution: This Is The Easy Way To Save Money: 6 Powerful Secrets From Research. I was enjoying the piece thoroughly, as I usually enjoy Eric’s writing. But it was the points around fairness that got me thinking about the airline industry. In the “Fair is …
