NYC Marathon Weekend

This morning I woke up and went for a quick 4 mile run in Central Park to see the marathon festivities. The park was totally filled with people, including athletes from all over the world. Whenever I saw people with “Training for the NYC Marathon” or other similarly identifying shirts, I said “good luck on Sunday” as I passed them. (Yes, passed them – for once, I was one of the fastest runners in the park, as most people were taking it easy to rest up for the race). I got a big smile on my face as I came …

Next up…

Finished doing interviews at Cornell today, and I’m really pleased with the offers we’re going to make. Tomorrow it’s back to NYC where I get to see Boyfriend (YAY!) and go back to my regular work (boo). Hopefully the plane ride will enable me to finish my Portland race report, which is halfway done. However, I won’t keep you in suspense any longer. You all knew I would be doing another marathon soon, and wanted to know when and where. The answer is… ING Hartford, this Saturday! On Sunday I have the Staten Island Half-Marathon so it’s going to be …

The marathon is only $75, but you get a Brooks singlet and Brooks sneakers, so that’s actually saving me money. Now …

Miscellany

This morning’s post is a random collection of things I want to post that I’m not even going to bother trying to link together. Public service announcement: check out the Runner’s Wave. Can anyone explain to me what the course for the Queens Half-Marathon is like? NYRR’s explanation kind of sucks. Specifically: does it loop? Is it hilly? And is the start hopefully close enough to the finish that my mom will be able to find her way between the two even though she’s severely directionally challenged? I am doing it no matter what, because I want to finish all …

Free flight for my next race!

Just got VDBed from my early morning flight, as planned. What was unplanned and totally awesome is that they put me in first class for the 2 PM flight! Brilliant. Now if I could just get myself VDBed on that one too… 🙂 Yes, I’m greedy, but I’d totally trade first class for another free roundtrip. There’s nothing like getting VDBed on a flight that’s free thanks to another VDB! Now the question is… how soon can I do another marathon with my bum knee? Looking to the calendar of potentials, I’d love to do Little Grand Canyon and Mountain …
