Barres and Bras

This week I’ve really been lying low with my weeknight activities. It seems to have been a slow week for bookclubs, wine tastings, and other meetups, so most nights, my only plan has been to head home for a workout and some major TV catchup. I’m hungry!

About a month or two ago, I got really excited because I started losing weight like crazy, and I didn’t quite understand why. I was cooking more than I used to, but I was still going out to dinner and going drinking sometimes. I had stopped regularly working out, though I was continuing to run marathons. But really, there wasn’t a big reason that I would suddenly be losing weight. This weekend, it’s my brother’s wedding, and I’m going to be a bridesmaid. Getting stronger

No marathons for me this weekend – I’m off to Phoenix for some sun, fun, Mexican food, and margaritas! Boyfriend’s parents have a house there and will be moving full time later this year, so they invited us to join them for part of their Memorial Day vacation. Knowing that I wasn’t going to be burning 2620 calories, I sternly forced myself to get a workout in early this morning before leaving for work. Day after the marathon

The title of this post may be a bit surprising to some readers, considering how I haven’t updated my upcoming races page in a while (now updated through July! Let me know if you’ll be at any of the races and want to meet up / share a car or a meal or housing). Surprise – yesterday, I ran the Lincoln Marathon! I’m ready for summer skirts!

I woke up this morning with my calves being just a touch sore… but not even enough to affect my gait. Score! Maybe I can do well at Nashville next weekend after all. I headed down to the gym to lift weights (arms only – I know to give my legs a rest), and while I was on the dip/pull up machine, my legs were flexing every time I was pushing the assistance bar down with one foot in preparation to start my reps.
