Ski + Knee = Sad Me

Race report from this weekend is almost done – assuming I don’t have too much green beer on Wednesday night, I’m aiming to get it posted then. However, the after the race part is what I’d really like to discuss today. On Sunday morning (day after the marathon), I woke up early to try to make first tracks at Keystone. It took us forever to get packed up and out of the condo (there was only one elevator and a ton of people trying to leave), but luckily, the gondola was literally across the street. UNluckily, the gondola was closed …

Race Report: Breakers Marathon

After last night’s disastrous hotel/dinner excursion, I figured the race had to go better. It seemed like things were good: the forecast was no longer for snow, but for rain, and mom had even heard some runners in the lobby saying that the rain might start later in the afternoon. Unfortunately, when we woke up at 6, it was pouring. I could only hope it would let up. Sicky sicky

Boyfriend started getting sick at the end of last week, and like a good girlfriend, I tried to take care of him. He didn’t want me to stay home from my marathon, but I made sure to stock up his kitchen with cans of chicken soup for him to heat up (the unlikely solution) and suggestions for takeout places with healthy/nutritious options (might actually happen, at least if I keep calling him and reminding him that he needs to eat). He didn’t have it too bad, fortunately, and he made it through the weekend okay. When I got back from …

Pole Dance Class? (Yes, For Real)

Recently, I joined a meetup group that wasn’t my typical book club, pub club, or wine tasting group. The title of this one is “Crunch Gym Pole Dancing,” and it was started by a woman named Sandy who was looking for girlfriends to accompany her to the pole dancing classes at Crunch gyms. For those of you who aren’t New Yorkers are aren’t quite used to our unabashed ways, yes, our gyms offer classes like pole dancing and cardio striptease 🙂 I had tried a “strip bar” class at Crunch once before and not really liked it too much. Described …
