Up in the Air

So… ready for it? I’m unemployed again. This time, though, it’s by choice, and it’s only for about another hour until I officially fill out the HR paperwork for my new job. I received an offer to go back to consulting that was too hard to refuse (great firm, huge raise/bonus, and really interesting/challenging work), so on Tuesday, I packed my desk at my airline job and said goodbye to my coworkers. I spent Wednesday cleaning up my apartment, shopping at Trader Joe’s (the wine shop was WAY too tempting and my wine cabinet is now fully stocked), and packing. …

Raking in the Big Bucks

In reviewing my 2010 health care plan elections, there is a new item listed under lifestyle bonuses to our healthcare flex spending accounts. NEW for 2010! There were probably 200 volunteers …

A few hours later, I started getting IMs from coworkers, asking me if I was “all over the marathon contest.” Um, what marathon contest? Turned out that the story broke right after the newsletter came out, so it was featured in today’s newsletter even though it went up on the website yesterday. “Calling all runners! Over the next few months we’ll be sponsoring some of the biggest marathons and road races in America. Enter today for your chance to …

Not my cup of cocoa

This afternoon at work, I was lagging and in need of some type of pick-me-up (low blood sugar? Maybe, I had eaten a light lunch). I went into the break room to grab coffee, and found myself contemplating the hot cocoa packets next to the coffee cups. Normally, I don’t like to drink my calories (I drink my coffee with no sugar and just a touch of skim milk), but I wondered exactly how much I’d be splurging to have a cup of cocoa. The nutrition facts were divided into two sections: one for just the cocoa, and one for …
