Friday Miscellany

Today my student loan balance is officially under $20k – that means I’ve paid off $10k since January! The market may be crashing down around me but I’m still doing okay financially. Now, to celebrate with a nice (but inexpensive) bottle of wine tonight 🙂 We’re having a health fair at work so I got my cholesterol tested as a follow-up to my doctor’s visit in April. Here are my numbers:Total Cholesterol = 156 (desirable is under 200)HDL = 37 (this is too low; should be at least 40, with the more the better)LDL = 97 (100-129 is desirable; optimum …

Race Report: Staten Island Half Marathon

While the really great runners are struggling to break 3 hours in a marathon, I still haven’t done a sub-4. Yesterday, however, I found the 3:00 mark to be extremely important – it was the cutoff time for the NYRR Staten Island Half-Marathon, and I was hard-pressed to hit it. After doing the Hartford Marathon on Saturday, I proceeded to eat as much as possible. Cranberry walnut cookies, truffled macaroni and cheese, gooey apple crisp – these were the post-race treats available after I finished. RBF Inspiration

I first got inspired by Frayed Laces, who asked if we could do something for 50 days, what would it be? I said that I wanted to try to eat raw vegan for 50 days. Moving in together / wishing I could run like a horse

All right, it’s done: I am officially moved out of my old apartment and moved in with the boy. It’s clearly a great idea to move in together before you even have “the talk” to define yourselves as being in a relationship. Don’t you hate “the talk”?
