Sunday Weigh In

For once, I didn’t set an alarm… and I woke up at 11:30 after going to bed at midnight! Guess I needed some sleep 🙂 I woke up feeling a bit sluggish and not wanting at all to work out (see: 24 hour motivation), but I plodded into the bathroom to weigh in. I’m trying to do it every day, but some days I stay at Boyfriend’s where there is no scale and then I drink coffee and eat breakfat before going home, so by the time I get home, the scale won’t be accurate. A bit of background: for …

Running through transitions (alternate title: Getting back on track after you failed to transition)

How perfect that today’s Take It and Run Thursday topic is Running Through Transitions! I’ve been MIA thanks to dealing with the transition of starting a new project. Unlike other fields, in consulting, starting a new project is like starting a new job: new coworkers, new responsibilities, new culture, and even new commutes. Instead of flying to St. Louis on Mondays and returning on Thursdays, eating expensive catered takeout sandwiches, and working out late night and early morning in the 24 hour hotel gym, I’m now battling traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel to drive to Jersey every day (1.5 hours …

Personal training kickoff

I just had a kickoff to personal training at my gym (to be trained, not to become a trainer. That goal totally fell by the wayside). Instead, she gave me this cool functional fitness thing that was really easy, but allowed her trained eye to see imbalances in my body. Here’s what I learned: My shoulder are very very narrow – I …

The world is conspiring to make me lazy

Didn’t leave the office until 8:30 PM, and I had to bring a bunch of work home with me too. Tonight’s workout was just 20 minutes of mostly leg lifts in various positions to try to get my calves/butt/thighs a good workout while I reviewed some decks (deck = consultant speak for PowerPoint presentation). And then… Me: Hi, may I please get a wakeup call for 5:45?Front desk: 5:45?Me: Yes, 5:45.Front desk: Why on earth would you want to get up at 5:45?Me: Um, I want to go to the gym. It’s open then, right?Front desk: Yes, it’s open 24 …

Tonight’s hotel workout

Too lazy to go downstairs to the gym, mainly because I’m at a new hotel and I haven’t checked it out yet and have no idea if it’s good or crappy. Is there a TV? Is there music? Are there machines or just free weights? What kind of cardio equipment is there? Are there individual TVs built into the cardio machines? So many questions! I don’t want to waste my time walking down there if it sucks – heaven forbid I actually burn a few calories walking from my room to the elevator and then to the gym! So instead, …
