Vending machine dilemma

On my team, I’ve become known pretty quickly as the healthy one. I feel like it shouldn’t be that apparent – I make smart choices when I go out, but it’s more the result of me doing research before I leave the office to plan what I want before I get there. I’m never asking for calorie info at restaurants, and I also almost never get just a salad. I guess being healthy is such a big part of my lifestyle that it’s just obvious, which I guess is good. What’s interesting is, my team is ostensibly all about eating …

And now, live from my workout!

This post is coming to you direct from… the treadmill. As in, I am walking on the treadmill right now while typing this. How cool is that?! I’m staying at the Westin Copley Square this week, and while I was initially dismayed to find out that this particular Westin has discontinued the RunWestin program (where they have a “running concierge” who leads group running tours of the city every morning), I was mollified by getting a surprise: I got one of the two coveted WestinWorkout rooms on the property! I had a bowl of cut fruit when I was at the airport, and I’m still a bit hungry but I think I’ll wait till I land so I can eat something other than the equivalent of five pieces of bread (yes, calorically that’s about what a regular-sized plain bagel is. Worse if you get a flavored bagel like Asiago Cheese or Cinnamon Crunch, my …

Random Thoughts on a Friday

I did much better today than yesterday at the conference. After the cookie incident in the afternoon, there was another cookie incident – I had a few glasses of wine that helped me decide it would be a good idea to chow down on two more cookies for dessert. On the positive side, after the original cookie incident, I found out that my meeting actually started at 5 instead of 4, so I threw on some workout clothes and got in a quick 2.4 miles on the treadmill before showering, throwing my business clothes back on, and returning to the …
