Three reasons I’m not too comfortable today

1. The marathon used chip timing, but instead of the typical chip that you put on your shoelaces, it was attached to a plastic wristband similar to the ones you get at events/concerts/open bars/etc that you can’t remove without cutting. They told us to put it on either our wrist or our ankle. I opted for ankle, because a) I didn’t want another wrist line tan (thank you, Road ID) and b) I figured it would be closer to the mats and have less chance of messing up. What they didn’t warn us was that the plastic would cut into …

Sightseeing in Seattle

First, a view from the airplane as I was flying in. I think that’s Mount St. Helens, but the pilot was describing a bunch of mountains and I couldn’t tell which was which:On Friday, I got into Seattle and had dinner with a friend of a friend. I knew Kevin before I went to Seattle, but not well. However, I had so much fun! In October, I was on a “local” project where I worked 8 AM to 11 PM… and then had a 1.5 hour commute each way to get …

Why I can’t bring healthy stuff to work

This week my hotel is next to a Trader Joe’s, so on Monday night, I went there and stocked up on healthy foods. Bran muffins, cereal, almond milk, some apples and oranges, etc. It was all in a grocery bag, and the only thing I ate was one muffin – everything else was brand new, unopened. And the muffin container was closed securely, and at the bottom of the bag, so it wouldn’t even be clear that it wasn’t new. We’re in a different team room this week, and there is barely desk space enough for our computers, let alone …
