I’m not running a marathon today

I could have been struggling to find non-cheesy carbs at the Chicago airport last night… but I was drinking beers on Stone Street with Boyfriend and his coworkers. I could have been at the starting line in South Dakota with my adrenaline flowing… but I was in my bed in New York, sound asleep with the melatonin flowing. I could have been sucking down a vanilla orange Gu Roctane at a water stop… but I was eating french toast bites infused with apricot brandy tea and topped with vanilla creme anglaise at Alice’s Tea Cup. I could have been racing …

Memorial Day Weekend Plans

Today I got an interesting offer: to be a pacer for the Key Bank Vermont City Marathon. As long-time readers will remember, the VCM was my first marathon ever. (It was also supposed to be my only marathon ever, but that didn’t really work out). I picked it because it was close enough that my mom and high school best friend could easily come, it was a big field but not a mega-marathon, and most importantly, it was sponsored by Ben & Jerry’s and had all-you-can-eat ice cream at the finish line. Sweating Through My Business Formal: The Night Before the Marathon

Today has been one of the most stressful days I’ve had in a while. Weekend woes

The Country Music Marathon this weekend will be my first time flying non-rev (meaning non-revenue meaning it’s free to standby because I work for the airline). Unfortunately, we don’t fly to Nashville, so Boyfriend and I are taking a late afternoon flight to Richmond, and then we bought cheap tickets ($100) on another airline to go from Richmond to Nashville. I checked out the load factors (meaning what % of seats are full) for the Friday afternoon flight to Richmond going back over a year, and we sold out the plane only once, most of the time having only about …

I miss my American diet

I’m not giving the South Beach diet another try till I get back to the states… but it’s a really good thing I made that decision. For every meal since I’ve gotten here, the table has been set with:-A basket of bread (not whole wheat, either)-A tub of butter-A jar of Polish mayonnaise-A platter of extremely high fat sliced meats (like, half the slice is marbled white fat) I haven’t seen a fruit or veggie since arriving. Oh wait – yes, I have. It’s the one other dish on the table, whose name translates to “cold feet.” You take some …
