Quick interim post

Working on finishing my full race report sometime tonight, but I was taking a break to catch up on some blog reading and found this awesome post by Perry. Now that my first marathon is done, it’s all about the crazy things, like the fifty state club and some of these. My favorite? The Five Borough Beer Marathon. I will find out next Friday if I got lotteried entry to the NYC Marathon, but if not, I may run it unofficially and drunkenly. I wonder what the training regimen is like for this one? Can I count my Friday and …

Lying on the beach is a good form of training!

I’ve been meaning to do Take It And Run Thursday for monthly, but I am finally making the commitment. From now on, expect my contribution weekly. (If you don’t know what TIART is, check out the bottom of this post). I have a feeling that most people’s articles this week are going to be about how much they hate the heat and how to avoid running in it. However, we didn’t get dessert and I really really want it. Room service only has really unhealthy …

Boston Marathon (Spectator’s) Report

Everyone else has been slow posting their Boston race reports, so I decided I’ll follow the trend (at least, I’ll pretend that’s why it took me so long). Here at last is my spectator’s report! After a really annoying flight on Sunday afternoon with a screaming baby behind me, I arrived in Boston in time for dinner. I was staying with my friend Adam, and to thank him, I took him out to dinner to a restaurant that’s been on my list to try for a while: Petit Robert Bistro on Comm Ave (yes, right on the marathon route). It …

Carb loading and half marathon planning

This is my friend Charlie. He writes a column for the Daily Sun about snack foods. That article doesn’t nearly demonstrate the sheer amount of crappy foods he can eat in one sitting, but hopefully it at least gives you some idea. Maybe this will help explain why my friends aren’t always the best dieting influence on me, and I’m probably not on them either! But seriously, read that interview… it’s hysterical. And for those of you who read this blog for health tips instead of humor (I would add a “ha” there, but it’s not entirely appropriate because my …
