I’m In! Announcing My 100th Marathon

At some point late this spring, I started realizing that my 100th marathon was coming up. I still can’t believe that I’m this close to running 100 marathons! I knew that I wanted my 100th marathon to be extra special… but that meant a lot of pressure to choose just the right race. There are a lot of marathons that I like just fine – and I had already signed up for one this fall that I really like, the Wineglass Marathon, to run it with my friend Theodora. I thought about making Wineglass my 100th marathon, since it’s where …

Event: Apogee Fitness Conference

I heard that the Wanderlust Yoga Festival sold out before many of you could sign up – and I’m so sorry to hear that! But as luck would have it, I was just invited to another all-day fitness event in the NYC area this weekend – the Apogee Fitness Conference. Tis the season for getting in shape! Apogee is a fitness company that provides both business and technology solutions for the fitness industry. Their website has a library of fitness videos that you can purchase which then stay in the cloud for you to watch anytime, anywhere – perfect when you’re constantly …

Event: Wanderlust Yoga in the City New York

Despite (or perhaps due to) the fact that this is a holiday week, I’ve been under a lot of stress. My travel plan isn’t my usual, work is compressed into four days instead of five, my house closing got pushed back indefinitely, and even my body isn’t cooperating – my IT band and knee are still acting up from the Ogden Marathon last weekend. On Monday, I went to a hot yoga class while visiting my parents in Albany, NY, and that helped a lot – but I definitely need more yoga to help my muscles really feel better. Luckily, …

Giveaway: SELF Magazine Workout in the Park NYC!

So remember how I decided to do Insanity? It was in part because a friend invited me and in part to save money, but it was also partially because I remembered it being OMGTHEHARDESTWORKOUTEVER and I thought it would whip me into insane shape. Instead, I found out that I’m apparently already in much better shape than I thought I was – and that maybe it’s not right for me after all. The first workout of Insanity is a fit test. You do eight exercises for one minute each, as fast as you can, counting the reps as you go …

We Are Runners… We Move Forward

I’m not yet ready to write – let alone post – about my marathon on Sunday. The course was 1.5 miles long due to an error in turns at the start, and I planned to write about how I was “outraged” at how the organizers screwed it up. But really, outrage over running a few extra miles? Runners at the Boston finish line voluntarily ran 1.5 extra miles to Mass General to donate blood. And many of us are just grateful that we’re able to run at all right now, given that the attack has left many unable to do …
