Spring Training, Spring Racing

Broncos_7K_Fort_Collins

Some days, I feel like everything is going wrong at work and I can’t get anything done. But other days, I feel like I’m on fire and just knocking things out one after the other! Today was the latter, and I can’t help but wonder if it happens to be the fact that I got back to working out in earnest this morning, and went to a 6am Orangetheory class? (Or maybe the guys at Dunkin Donuts spiked my coffee with caffeinated rather than the decaf I normally drink.) My happy news today is that my foot has been mostly …

Running for Consistency Over Speed

Orangetheory_Mile_Challenge

Over the weekend, I loved reading this article about focusing on processes rather than outcomes. It made me think of what I’ve been doing with running lately. On January 1st, I started trying to maintain a running streak. Unlike my successful streak last summer, this time, the stakes were a little higher – I had to run two miles in a day for it to count. That ended up being a lot harder than just one mile! With one mile, I could bang it out without feeling like I had even gotten a workout in – it was just a …

2017 Monthly Check In: August and September

Ice_cream_Sundae_Party

As you may have noticed, I didn’t end up writing a goal recap for August 🙁 September was just a really busy month, and I ended up falling behind on several fronts, so now you’re getting August and September rolled into one. Here’s how I progressed on my 2017 goals in the last two months: I have been completely missing my 10 pushups / 20 split squats / 30 plank leg lifts routine, and it really shows when it comes to my pushups. I realized that when I focused on run streaking every day, I dropped my 10/20/30; when I focused on 10/20/30, …

Colorado Fall Bucket List

Pumpkin Haul Finish

Today should be Travel Thursday, but due to my South Florida client’s power outage, I’m working from home this week instead. I’m certainly thinking of all the people who were affected by either Irma or Harvey, especially those who haven’t yet been able to go home to see if things are okay. The uncertainty has to be terrible 🙁 In July, I made a summer bucket list of activities to try and places to go before Labor Day. I didn’t make it through my whole list, but I’d say I did about 75% of the activities. Over the last two …

2017 Monthly Goal Check In: July

Laura_At_Walker_Ranch_With_Livestock

August really snuck up on me, but as I look back through my goal posts, I realized that every month this year has been going by so fast. But even though we’re well into the third quarter, I’m really happy with how 2017 is going. Lots of good stuff all around! I completely abandoned my 10 pushups / 20 split squats / 30 plank leg lifts… it just felt like too much to be doing that and run a mile every day. Okay, that’s what I told myself, but I know it sounds ridiculous when I write it out! I’ve been doing poorly …
