Navigating the Midlife Crossroads

Laura_Teaching_Skiing_On_Highlands_Lift

I just reread my New Year’s post, and while it ended on a positive note, it was definitely a bit of a downer. I was excited that things were trending upwards, but also afraid that they wouldn’t stay that way. What calamities were still to come?! But I’ve now gotten through February, and things have indeed been getting better and better. As I’ve discussed with my therapist, I keep thinking, “ah, now I’m back to the way I used to be!”… and then a few days later, I feel better still! I hesitate to say I’m totally better, as I recognize that …

Weekend Recap: Happy New Year!

NYE_Ball_Drop

Although my consulting firm had our holiday shutdown and I was technically off work all week, I had a different kind of work scheduled – ski instructing at Beaver Creek! I had an absolutely amazing time teaching seven classes, mostly levels 4 and 5 (linking turns and getting parallel on easy blue terrain), and even ended up with a high-ranking political official in one of my classes! Quarantine Health Goals

FamilyGuyMeeting

I’m sure you’ve seen some of the memes out there about coming out of quarantine unrecognizable due to weight gain. I’m taking the opposite approach. I’ve been indulging a bit too much on yummy food and drinks lately, so I’m trying to take advantage of my extended stay at home as an opportunity to eat healthy, work out hard, and come out in better shape than I went in! My hard-and-fast daily quarantine rules are as follows: Do a Peloton core workout every morning. I’ve been particularly loving this 5 minute class by Robin… I’ve tried a bunch of ten …

2020 New Year’s Resolutions

YearsEndAGoingOn

Last year, I kind of whiffed on my New Year’s resolutions. New Year’s is normally one of my favorite holidays because it reminds me to think about my goals and set some new intentions. But in January 2019, I think I was too exhausted from the election and caught up in trying to figure everything out with my new role as an elected official! I’d like to get my tradition of resolution-making going again, so here I present to you my 2020 New Year’s resolutions / goals. Read 100 books. This makes the list every year, as I track my …
