Pricey Boutique Fitness Classes – Are They Worth It?

Orangetheory_Workout_Summary

Last December, Orangetheory Fitness opened a new studio in Boulder, and they offered great deals for those who bought class packages before the New Year. Drop-in classes are $25 each, or you can get them $15 each if you’re willing to commit to a 30-pack. For the opening, though, I got 25 classes for $320, or only $12.80 each! It was definitely a great deal compared to the regular price. Unfortunately, I mostly forgot about that class pack over the course of this year… so now I have 20 classes to use in the next six weeks before they expire. I went …

Why is hiking so different from stair climbing?

Not sure if I’ve posted about this before, but I bought a Fitbit Charge HR about a month ago, thanks to my new team in Dallas. They pretty much all wear Fitbits, and they have “Work Week Hustle” challenges every week to see who can get the most steps in Monday through Friday. I have to admit, I haven’t paid much attention to the leaderboard (last week I won and didn’t even realize it till after the fact?) – though I think part of that is that I’ve been traveling and haven’t been sitting in the office with the team much. Although it was a hot pick for a Friday night and we were unable to get a reservation inside (we were going to be on a …

Sponsored Giveaway: Balance Bar Summer Shape Up

Balance Bare Bars

I wrote yesterday about my wonderful weekend at Blend Retreat, and how happy I was to be outside getting exercise with my friends. Honestly, exercise is actually something I’ve been stressing out a lot about lately. As much as I like to think that this weekend was “typical”, it’s really more typical of how I was last year. Lately, I haven’t really been as active as I would like, in part because I’m finding it hard to get into a routine and make healthy eating/exercise my norm instead of something I have to fight for. I was talking about my diet/exercise …

Fact: I Work Out to Improve My Body

Fitbit_Workout_Screenshot

I came across this article last week: The F*ed Up Thing So Many Fitness Instructors Do. After reading, I was rather annoyed by it. I intended to write a fiery post shortly thereafter, but ended up not having the time. However, after I shared it in my Links I Love yesterday and Becky commented, I decided it was worth my time to draw a bit more attention to it. The article starts by quoting an (admittedly rude) comment from a fitness instructor, who is yelling at his/her class that if they don’t get rid of their belly, they’ll never get an engagement …
