Workout Recap: 8/29 – 9/7

Even though my September goal is about cutting back on my email checking, I’ve really enjoyed sharing my workout log on my blog every week in August, so I’d like to keep doing that. I’m not sure what day of the week this will typically come (Saturdays?) but for now, here’s a midweek update on the last week and a half: Monday 8/29: This should not have been a rest day, but it mostly was. I did, however, squeeze in a 10 minute biceps workout from Brit. I love how quick and focused Brit’s strength workouts are – they make me really …

Turning A Flight Delay Into 8,000 Steps

Fitbit_Airport_Steps

Well, I am really glad that no-complaining month is over, because tonight I had a lot to complain about. I had not one but two flights get delayed three hours each. The kicker was this frustrating conversation: Me to gate agent: “I know it says we’ll be boarding in two minutes, but the gate is empty. Is our flight still on time?” Gate agent: “Oh, yes, definitely on time.” Me: “But it looks like our planned inbound aircraft hasn’t landed yet. So, I’ve gotten in the habit of logging on every morning and booking my workout for six days out …

Class Review: Burn Dallas

Burn_Dallas_Studio

Have you ever put something fun on your to-do list, but then it stayed there so long that it stopped being appealing? That’s what happened to me with Burn Dallas, a new-ish fitness studio in Preston Hollow. I first heard about Burn Dallas three or four months ago, when I took a spin class with one of my favorite (now-former) Flywheel instructors, Mark. He gave me a rundown of some of the cool new openings in the area, and Burn was actually a place that he was teaching. I immediately knew I wanted to go, no matter what kind of workout it …

How to Improve Body Image Without Improving Your Body

Someecards_False_Mirror

Lately, I have been crushing it in the gym! I will be the first to admit that I frequently half-ass my workouts… and then wonder why I’m spending so much time in the gym with no results. But between trying to use up all my soon-to-expire Orangetheory classes and signing up for ClassPass, I’ve been finding a lot of new-to-me boutique studios that are really challenging me. Sweat sweat sweat sweat sweat! Regardless of how hard I’m working, I’m not yet sure whether I’ve actually gotten any fitter or lost any weight. It’s only been a few weeks of really …
