Weekend Recap: Memorial Day Weekend

Rest_Day_Reading

I was soooooooo eager for the long weekend after a particularly tough week at work! Monday kicked off with an all-day video call for me to do performance reviews. These are always difficult (so many talented staff and not enough promotions / top ratings / bonuses to go around!), but sitting on a video call for fourteen hours straight was just brutal. At one point, around the twelve hour mark, I could see that literally every single person on the call had their head in their hands. Unfortunately, even when we wrapped up at 9pm, I didn’t get a good …

Weekend Recap: Socializing Again

Sugar_Cockeyed_Still_Drunk

Friday was a busy day at work, but I kept reminding myself that I was in for an exciting night: my friend Karlin was coming over for dinner and drinks on my deck after work! This would be my first time meeting up with a friend since I began sheltering in place in early March, and also, my first time drinking (not counting the half glass of wine I had on my COVID Vacances). It was sure to be eventful night, and oh boy, it was definitely that. When I decided I was going to “experiment” with seeing people in …

Sugar_Coalton_Trail

Friday was my Peloton bike delivery day, and I was so excited! However, the delivery people surprised me and called while I was at the store, saying they were ahead of scheduled and would it be okay for them to come early? I had just gotten to the front of the line to get into Trader Joe’s, but knew I’d be very quick in the …

Sugar_Laura_Pink_Mask_Run

In Sunday’s Links I Love, I shared a really funny YouTube video that a coworker sent me: “training for real life.” Now, I’ll be honest; there’s a lot of this video I can’t relate to. I’ve been working out daily, showering daily, wearing pants and a bra daily, and I haven’t watched Netflix once! But last weekend, Colorado’s governor also moved us from “stay-at-home” to “safer-at-home” – meaning we are slowly reopening non-essential businesses and allowing people to go out into the world. “Real life” (or at least the “real life” I am guessing we will have for the next year …

Quarantine Goals, Take 2

75_Hard_Challenge

Next week will mark two full months alone in quarantine for me… something I never imagined when this all began. And yet, I’m finding that I’m reasonably content. I miss my friends, and there are definitely bouts of loneliness. (As someone whose love language is touch, and who is always hugging friends, it’s nuts to me that I haven’t touched a single human in two months!) But I track my mood each day in the Daylio app on my phone, and I’m still rating most days as “pretty good” or “great” – which I guess proves the hedonic treadmill right. …
