Oldies but Goodies: My Favorite Blogs

For those of you who asked on my last post how I find the time to run, the answer is: I don’t. I joke about my once-a-week training schedule, and most people probably think I do it out of sheer craziness, but the truth is, I do it because I rarely find the time to run during the week. Last night was a bit out of the ordinary, but I’d say I typically work about twelve hours a day, and then usually have another hour or two a day of work obligations (non-client research, recruiting work, team dinners, training, administrative …

Non-scale victories

Yesterday was a major victory for me, for several reasons. I’m up at Cornell to do various recruiting events, and yesterday was the big career fair (today there is a second smaller one just for engineering students). I knew I’d be seeing a lot of people from my past, so like a high school reunion, I wanted to look sharp. I brought my favorite suit to wear… and then I put it on in the morning and found that it was a little baggy! On the one hand I was disappointed that I wouldn’t look super polished, but on the …

From one challenge to another!

The Worth The Weight Challenge is over, though we’re still waiting for results. I lost 5.8 pounds – incredible!!! My “reach” goal was to lose 4.4 pounds, and I said I would have been happy just losing 2.4, so I totally smashed those goals. While I wait for SLB to come up with his next challenge, I thought I’d finally start the hundred pushup challenge. I did the test and week 1 day 1 all tonight… I probably wasn’t supposed to do that, but whatever. In the initial test, I did 14 (though I think I probably could have done …

A long-overdue update

Life has been busy, but good. I’ve been doing well on the “eat healthy fat” thing, and have discovered how enjoyable nuts can be. I think so far I’ve gotten healthy fat into every meal except breakfast, because for breakfast I usually just have fruit on the go. But Tuesday’s lunch was a humongous salad with walnuts and then olive oil and vinegar on top, dinner was chicken chili as my meat splurge for the week (I skipped the healthy fat there because I figured the chicken had fat). Wednesday, I brought tomato chickpea soup but then bought a pack …

Miscellany

This morning’s post is a random collection of things I want to post that I’m not even going to bother trying to link together. Public service announcement: check out the Runner’s Wave. Can anyone explain to me what the course for the Queens Half-Marathon is like? NYRR’s explanation kind of sucks. Specifically: does it loop? Is it hilly? And is the start hopefully close enough to the finish that my mom will be able to find her way between the two even though she’s severely directionally challenged? I am doing it no matter what, because I want to finish all …
