What I Read in August 2018

I’ve gotten very little reading done in August, as my campaign for office kicks into gear. This month I only read five books, and I’m 17 books behind in my goal to read 100 books in 2018. At this point, I’m not sure I’ll be able to make up the gap by year end, especially with September and October being my most busy months for the campaign. But I’m going to make an effort to devote at least some time to unwinding and reading rather than focusing on the campaign every non-working moment! 4 stars: Hit Makers: Why Things Become …

What I Read in July 2018

Best_Books_Of_July_2018

Only five books read in July, and three of them were in the last week – yikes! I’m currently 12 books behind on my goal of reading 100 books in 2018 🙁 I need to step up my reading and make more time for it, but it hasn’t been a priority lately. 5 stars: Let Your Mind Run: A Memoir of Thinking My Way to Victory, by Deena Kastor: This was fascinating – a great blend of biography along with practical tips to cultivate a more positive mindset. I found myself highlighting several quotes as I was reading (something I …

What I Read in June 2018

I read eight books in June, which is on track with how much I need to be reading. Unfortunately, that’s still 9 books behind my annual 100-books-a-year goal… I’m at 41 right now, and the end of June marks the halfway point! Time for me to step it up in Q3 and Q4. 5 stars: Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less, by Greg McKeown: This was a pick for my office book club, and I was a little skeptical at first, thinking it would be mostly a repeat of Marie Kondo and the virtues of living with only a few …

What I Read in May 2018

Best_Books_Of_May_2018

I read eleven books in May, thanks to a tear of novels in the middle of the month. However, I should also add that’s cheating a little bit since there were also two short stories of just under 100 pages each tucked in there! I really loved Amy Ewing’s Jewel series, though, and would highly recommend it for lovers of page turning dystopian rebellion novels (like The Hunger Games and The Selection). This month helped me catch up a little closer to my goal of 100 books for the year, but I’m still woefully behind, and not really keeping the …

What I Read in April 2018

I read seven books in April, which is exactly what I need to be reading to make my goal of 100 books a year. Unfortunately, I’m behind from the entire first quarter, so I will need to read more than that going forward if I want to catch up! May has been a slow month for reading but I’m now in the middle of a series that is pulling me in quite a bit, so hopefully that will help. More on that next month! 5 stars: The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You’re Supposed to Be …
