Weekend Recap: Chili Fest and More Campaigning

Theodora_Laura_Post_Getaway_10K

This weekend was booked solid with campaign activities. With only five weeks until ballots come out, I’m kicking into high gear as far as meeting residents and attending events. But, I still made time for a bit of fun as well! Friday night kicked off with a happy hour that was sponsored by the Town, with all of the candidates on the ballot invited. I already knew most of the residents there, but there were several who I knew personally and they weren’t aware I was running for office! It was fun to get to share my views on various …

Weekend Recap: Tiki, Barbecue, and Trail Running

Running_Buddies_33rd_Birthday_Tiki_Party

This weekend started out with a splash: I threw my (belated) birthday party, and went with a Hawaiian tiki theme this year! Why tiki, you ask? Well, I love Asian food, and I also love tropical drinks… so this theme let me combine both 🙂 My party was set for Friday night at 6pm, and I had a busy day of meetings (including one that ran till 4:30pm downtown), so one of my menu priorities was things that could be prepped in advance. This month, we were discussing Greg McKeown’s Essentialism, which I found fascinating and inspiring – I’d highly recommend it. I had thought that essentialism was going to be primarily be about cleaning out stuff, a la Marie Kondo, but it actually focused …

Laura_Heather_Cindy_Estes_Park_Elizabeths_Wedding

This weekend started earlier than most! I’ve been desperately needing a vacation for a while, but last month, realized that taking a day off every month was probably going to be the best I could do for a while. I was booked for training all day Thursday in Fort Lauderdale, and the session wrapped up too late for me to catch a flight home that night, so I decided to stick around, take a half day on Friday, and spend Friday morning soaking up the sun before flying home that afternoon. It was fabulous! Work calls ended up interrupting my …

Weekend Recap: Welcome 2018!

Keystone_Bluebird_Day

My first weekend of the new year was also my last weekend of my holiday break. I was bummed not to have gotten more done in my two weeks at home, but I also felt pretty relaxed going into the weekend. Maybe there’s something to be said for doing nothing on occasion? This weekend, I didn’t have a lot planned up front – but at the last minute, some fun stuff came together and turned it into a pretty great first weekend of 2018. Work was pretty busy on Friday, but my weekend kicked off with a happy hour at …
