The Perfectly Packed Easter Saturday

Amanda_Amber_and_Laura_at_Easter_Brunch

I’m in between projects right now at work, which is always tough for me as it takes away my ability to plan. On a day or two’s notice, I could be asked to fly to the other side of the world for three weeks (as happened to me last month!). As a result, even my weekends are tough to really plan out more than a few days in advance. My family is gathering in South Carolina for Easter and a beach vacation, but I didn’t know for a long time whether I’d be able to take off work to go. …

Simple Colorado-Themed Party Menu

As I wrote on Saturday, this week is my “Coloradoversary” – the anniversary of both the day I moved to Colorado and the day I closed on my house. I celebrated on Saturday night with a big party for all my friends, and it was a blast! For a Colorado-themed menu, I started with the most obviously Coloradan food: pork green chili. I don’t know the origins, but green chili is all over the place here – smothering burritos, omelets, fries, or just in a delicious bowl by itself. St. Patrick's Day House Party

This week is both my three year anniversary of moving to Colorado, and also my two year anniversary of moving into my house. Since I decided I didn’t want to make Irish food, I thought my “Coloradoversary” would be a great theme for my March party, which is tonight. I can’t believe that I’ve already been living in Colorado for three years! The time flies. I truly can’t imagine living anywhere else (even with all the travel I do that …

Weekend Recap: Party Gras Success!

Mardi_Gras_King_Cake

What a fun weekend! This time I got three full days in Colorado, and it was glorious 🙂 I tried to maximize my time by scheduling lots of fun stuff with friends, and while a few things didn’t go as planned, I largely made the most of it. The highlight of the weekend, though, was definitely the Mardi Gras party I threw on Saturday night (Party Gras). I love any excuse for a theme party, and this month I was torn between Mardi Gras or Oscars. But since I’m not a huge fan of the Oscars, I decided to go …

Weekend Recap: Fail to Plan and Plan to Fail

40_Under_Forty

This weekend started off pretty fabulously. On Friday afternoon, I learned that I’ve been selected as one of BizWest Magazine’s “40 Under Forty” – a huge honor that I still can’t believe I’ve received! Fortunately, I already had plans for a Galentine’s party that night with my best friends, so it was easy to pop open a bottle of bubbly and celebrate 🙂 On Saturday and Sunday, though, things were much more low key – but not for good reasons. As wonderful as my new client is, I’ve been struggling to figure out a sleep schedule that will help me …
