I set my October goal a bit late, so I’m now wrapping up week 1 of my challenge to take 20 ClassPass classes by the end of the month. My hope was that committing to a certain number of classes would increase my accountability, and also increase my variety by forcing me to try some new-to-me studios in Colorado. Until this month, I’ve taken most of my ClassPass classes in Dallas; it’s like a whole new world here in Colorado! The Value of Varying Workouts

This morning, my friend Theodora wrote a thought-provoking post on why specificity matters in workouts. I read her post, and I also read the linked articles that provide more scientific background. But I have to say, despite all the science behind muscle confusion not working, I still love ClassPass, and think that the variety it provides is incredibly beneficial. We’re already a third of the way into October, but it took me till now to commit to a goal for the month. Workout Recap: 9/25-10/1

I was grumping to Adam a lot about my rest day yesterday – I hate being inactive, and usually prefer to just vary my workout rather than taking actual rest days. But it turned out that my rest day and all my workouts the last few weeks paid off, as today I broke my 5K PR by a whopping 93 seconds!!! Workout Recap: 9/18-9/24

This was a really strong week of workouts! I am starting to see significant progress in my running, and it feels fantastic. Sunday 9/18: Lazed around most of the day and felt pretty guilty about it, so just before bed I did a 15 minute bodyweight workout I made up as I went. 50 reps each of squats, plie squats, leg lifts, leg lift pulses, bridges, crunches, backups, and side leg lifts.
