Short but Sweet Weekend and Workout

6_Minute_Cardio_Kickboxing_Workout

(Posted 24 hours later because of internet issues. But here’s an update: I did my Leap Like a Puma leg workout last night before we went to dinner!) This weekend was quick, but it was great. As I wrote on Friday, I started out the weekend by flying to Arizona and having date night with Adam. He took me to a fantastic wine bar in Chandler, Vintage 95, and we had the best time. Although it was a hot pick for a Friday night and we were unable to get a reservation inside (we were going to be on a …

Sponsored: What to Wear to a Mud Run

What_Not_To_Wear_To_A_Mud_Run

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Mudderella. I received a promotional item to thank me for my participation. Lately, there is a broader trend in fitness toward developing these skills and combining fitness activities with fun social activities – and I love that trend. Since moving into Colorado, I’ve really gotten into hiking, and I love that it’s a workout that doesn’t feel like a workout. I knew that I would still be working a lot over the weekend, but I wanted at least a little bit of a reprieve. After studying the weather …

Completing My Workout Checklist

I wrote on Monday about getting inspired by watching Ironman Boulder. I didn’t necessarily get inspired to do an Ironman, but I did get inspired to start swimming and generally making more time for the fitness activities I love. I have never really been a big proponent of following a training plan, though I understand how beneficial that is if you’re training for a specific race. But for me, I’m just “training” to get in better shape – and I think it works best when I do what my body feels like that day. A lot of people talk about …

Rediscovering My Old Hobbies

Ironman_Boulder_2015_Winner

While working on some of the talks I’m going to be giving at our senior associate training this fall, I’ve been going through the story of how I went from someone who couldn’t run a mile, to doing my first marathon, to a world record. However, my speech coach has been encouraging me to point out something I honestly hadn’t given much thought to before: that just because I picked up the new hobby of running didn’t mean that I changed who I was, or gave up my old hobbies. In this case, I was a musical theater nerd when …
