Mammoth Track Club Workout

Laura_Track_Workout

I have so much to write about the amazing Mammoth Running Escape I attended this weekend, hosted by Deena Kastor. But before I get to recapping all the wonderfulness of the weekend, I’d like to talk about a little bit of “bad luck” that turned amazing today. Mammoth Lakes is a pretty small town, and the airport is one of the smallest in the country. There is exactly one commercial flight in per day, and one commercial flight out. Unfortunately, yesterday the plane coming from LA had mechanical issues, so our flight was canceled and rebooked for this evening instead. This threw off …

Hiking Report: Mount Bierstadt (14,060 feet)

Trail_Down_Bierstadt

This delayed hiking report is from my summit of Mount Bierstadt on Tuesday, July 5th. I didn’t mean to delay this much in writing it! However, the few weeks in between when I did the hike and finished writing it up has also given me some fresh perspective… I had a four day weekend (Saturday July 2nd till Tuesday July 5th), and while it kind of started off slowly and lazily, it ended on a literal high note! As I mentioned Monday the 4th in my race report, I kept things pretty quiet on Saturday – skipping my group run, …

Right Hand, Injured: A Litany of Complaints

Twister_Spinner

I interrupt your regularly scheduled update on my month of non-complaining to bring you an urgent whiny message. The last few days, really since Friday, have kind of been one big #Fail of me complaining what feels like constantly. In truth, it’s probably not that bad, but I gave up on even tracking my complaints after I logged a whole slew of them Friday night. I definitely need to get back on track… so how about tomorrow? Because today, I want to write about a complaint that doesn’t really have a solution. On Saturday the 7th, my left shoulder started hurting a little bit. I did …

Sponsored Giveaway: What’s in My Gym Bag? A Clean Confession

Grit_Fitness_Gym_Bag

This weekend, San Diego hosted Wanderlust 108 – an awesome annual yoga event that I got to attend back in New York a few years ago. One of this year’s sponsors was Cottonelle®, who encouraged festival-goers to share their #CleanConfession. So now, here comes mine… As long-time readers know, I used to go to Flywheel all the time. These days, though, I have a ClassPass that offers me up to three classes per studio per month (at unlimited studios) for $89/month – definitely a bargain compared to normal boutique studio pricing. But while Flywheel is technically on ClassPass, they don’t open up a lot …

April Goal Progress: Final Week 4 Check In

April_Week_4_Sleep

I cannot believe it’s May already. April went by entirely too quickly! And unfortunately, me trying to sleep more is not why April felt so short… because I’d say that I was only about half successful in focusing on my sleep. I already wrote about my insomnia last Tuesday night, when I literally got less than two hours of sleep. Not good! I slept well Wednesday and Thursday nights, but Friday I picked up a stomach bug from my nephews (or maybe from someone else in my family, since we all seemed to catch it at some point this week) and woke up …
