New digs, new gym

First night at my new home (the Westin in DC), and I immediately headed down to the gym to check out the equipment. Not too shabby – there’s a multipurpose weight machine, a pretty extensive set of dumbbells, four treadmills, three ellipticals, two stationary bikes, and a stair stepper. The nice part of all this is it’s spread out in a multi-level room that extends around several corners, so you don’t feel boxed in at all, and there is a separate mirrored room in the back with some mats and exercise balls. And this weird donut ring thing. For size …

What happens in Vegas… may be posted on my blog

Wow. How to even begin to describe my trip. Especially given the oh-so-popular maxim of “whatever happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” But let’s see what I can do to tell some Absolut(ly) Fit adventures while keeping intact the anonymity of all those involved 🙂 Wednesday night, I got in fairly late thanks to my changed flight. I was reading “The Recessionistas” on the flight (well, alternating that with falling asleep, since it was like 1am EST and I had been up since 6am), and it was a fabulous book. Turning the day around

Last night was the US Open, and I was going with my coworkers and bringing clients to it as a big event. I had a lot of fun playing hostess: offering drinks and snacks while we were in the limos riding over to the stadium, writing down orders and then playing runner for the concession stand and bar while at the event, etc. The game itself became a bit secondary to entertaining, but since we were watching two games where the outcomes were pretty clear right from the start (Wozniacki vs Cibulkova and Federer vs Soderling), I didn’t mind too …

Running through it

I’ve run through breakups. I’ve run through rainstorms. I’ve run through depression. And today, I ran through a buy out of my company. Last night, I was out with my new team doing the normal consulting getting-to-know-you-routine. Unbeknownst to us, while we were throwing back coffee-flavored tequila shots at the bar (try it, it’s AWESOME!), all the partners in our firm were meeting in a conference room to vote on an offer to buy the firm. This morning I got up at 5am (!) to get in a good long workout and burn off the alcohol calories from the night …
