Weekend Recap: Long Run and Mountains with Sadie

Sadie_Loves_Skiing (1)

My weekend kicked off in a pretty typical way – after my last meeting of the day, I knocked out a bunch more work and cleaned out my inbox a bit to try to destress, then made pizza with Mom… and also snuck in a quick Peloton chest and back class while it baked. In the evening, we watched two episodes of Smash before I was exhausted and called it a night. We are working our way through this series! The next morning, I woke up and tried to head out for my long run almost immediately. I’ve finally learned that …

Weekend Recap: Wine Tasting and Cross-Country Skiing

Leadville_Mineral_Belt_Trail_XC (1)

After the five days up in Minturn for last weekend’s ski certification, I was excited to have a weekend where I could stay home and see my mom and Sadie more… with nothing really planned. Though you know me – in spite of having no actual plans, I ended up having a pretty busy time 🙂 My weekend kicked off with a wine tasting happy hour for work. Weekend Recap: Ski Instructor Certification

PSIA_Certification

This week was kind of a five-day weekend, in that I took Wednesday through Friday off from consulting, but kind of a one-day weekend, in that I spent Wednesday through Saturday up at Beaver Creek getting my Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) level 1 certification and then teaching. It was definitely tiring – but I’m really proud of myself for getting through it! I headed up to Minturn on Tuesday night after work, and stayed up pretty late doing some final last minute studying for the exam. Wednesday was focused on movement analysis, where we watched various skiers on …

Weekend Recap: Three Day MLK Weekend

Running_Down_Doudy_Draw

This year, my company declared Martin Luther King Day a holiday – so I went into Friday knowing I had a three day weekend ahead. To boost my mood even more, I took Sadie for an early morning hike up to Royal Arch – and we had an amazing time! It was an absolutely beautiful hike, and even though it was only 21°, we were both bundled up and it didn’t feel that cold. I was grateful that the cold kept other people off the trail – we had it almost all to ourselves, and saw only two other pairs …

Weekend Recap: Lazy Weekend at Home

Binging_Garretts_Popcorn

Although this was my first week back at work after the holiday break, it was a short week for me… stressful! But because there hadn’t been much terrain open at Beaver Creek in December when I first went for training, we were asked to come back for two days of follow up training, focused around levels and terrain progression (i.e., which trails are appropriate for which levels of students and which order should you progress students from one trail to the next). I drove up to the mountains on on Wednesday night – after my mom’s last day of chemo, …
