January Goal Progress: Week 3 Check In

It’s already the third week of January – how are your New Year’s resolutions going? I still love the concept of my twelve goals in twelve months, but I have to say that my discipline to actually accomplish my January goal is waning. Last week, I got done everything that was on my to-do list that needed to get done. However, I wasn’t doing it on the schedule I had set for myself in the morning. You might think that’s okay, since I was still getting done everything I really needed to do, but I didn’t do most of the nice-to-have items …

January Goal Progress: Week 2 Check In

So, when I started my twelve months of goals, I also thought it could start a new habit for me where every Monday, I discuss my progress so far for the month and figure out new goals for the week. Unfortunately, it seems that I’ve already failed at that – I started writing this post on the plane Monday morning, but then Monday was crazy and I didn’t get to finish. And then Tuesday was similarly busy. So here it is Wednesday and I’m still trying to crank it out. Guess there’s some room for improvement there! The good news …

January Challenge: Scheduling My To-Do List

My_Scheduled_To-Do_List

Yesterday, I explained the concept of my one month, one challenge approach to this year’s resolutions. In that post, I talked about how inspiring I found my colleague Jullien’s webcast on getting a fresh start to the New Year, and how I was really motivated by what he said around goal stacking. However, another concept that really stuck with me (and formed the basis for my January challenge) is the idea of calendaring your goals. In Jullien’s New Year’s guide, he has a few pages devoted to developing your 2016 bucket list, and identifying what experiences you want to have over the course of …

Goal Focusing: One Month, One Challenge

Someecards_Rollover_New_Years_Goals

I mentioned last week that my colleague Jullien Gordon’s wrote an awesome and free New Year’s Guide; he also hosted a free webinar to talk through it and help people complete it. I’ve only had time to complete about half of the workbook so far, and I was also only able to attend half of his webinar. (Noticing a pattern? Oops.) But I got a lot of out what I’ve done so far, and I’ve finally settled on my New Year’s resolution for 2016. In years past, I’ve generally created a whole bunch of New Year’s resolutions, and I’ve had varying degrees of success in achieving them. There …

Take a Moment For You (Sponsored by Evolution Fresh)

Closet_Partially_Organized

My week off from work has been amazing! I’ve had time to get a lot of things done around the house – from reupholstering my dining room chairs, to building shelving for my master closet, to building a wine cabinet and bookshelf for my basement rec room. (Lots of building!) I also went on a big home shopping spree at Tuesday Morning to get new pillows for my couches and new curtains for a lot of windows, and also hit some of the post-Christmas sales to get discounted holiday decorations for next year. It’s been really productive, and I’m thrilled. …
