New Year’s Party Menu

Things have been a little nutty around here as I pack up my home and prepare to move to my dream home in the foothills this Friday! (I can’t believe it’s only 5 days away… I’m excited but there is still so much to do.) With all the stress of moving, I completely neglected to send a New Year’s party invite until Thursday, three days before New Year’s, but I was thrilled to still have about 20 dear friends join me to close out 2023 and ring in 2024. I guess everyone else was similarly ambivalent about committing to a …

New Year, New Me

GarysRun

The most cliched title ever, especially for a January post, but… I think it’s fitting. 2022 was hands down the worst year of my life. It wasn’t one thing, but rather, one thing after another – where each time I thought I had found my footing, I lost myself again. The combination of the devastating Marshall Fire and burnout at work led me to take three months off work to deal with my mental health; then I went through IVF and had a huge overdose of estrogen that led to postpartum depression (even though I hadn’t had a baby!). NYE_Ball_Drop

Although my consulting firm had our holiday shutdown and I was technically off work all week, I had a different kind of work scheduled – ski instructing at Beaver Creek! 2020 New Year’s Resolutions

YearsEndAGoingOn

Last year, I kind of whiffed on my New Year’s resolutions. New Year’s is normally one of my favorite holidays because it reminds me to think about my goals and set some new intentions. But in January 2019, I think I was too exhausted from the election and caught up in trying to figure everything out with my new role as an elected official! I’d like to get my tradition of resolution-making going again, so here I present to you my 2020 New Year’s resolutions / goals. Read 100 books. This makes the list every year, as I track my …

Weekend Recap: The End of 2017

Sump_Pump_Clearing_Water_From_Basement

The last week of 2017 was filled with a lot of mishaps – and yet, I didn’t consider it a bad week at all. I think that’s a pretty good representation of my year as a whole. I had some ups and downs, but for me, 2017 was most notable in that I developed a sense of optimism that got me through it all. That was definitely evident over the last week! My mom and I flew to Colorado on Christmas evening. As I already wrote to kick off last weekend’s recap, I promptly came down with strep throat on …
