December Goal: Make a Home for the Holidays

This is shaping up to be an odd month for me. When I’m staffed on a client, I’m used to traveling for my job four days a week, every week. In November, I had a break from client service after wrapping up a big project and then focusing on teaching our senior associate Discover program. Afterward, it was Thanksgiving, and new projects are generally slow to start in between Thanksgiving and Christmas. However, I got staffed on a fantastic new client and have been traveling for the last two weeks. Today, though, an unexpected surprise came along: we only had …

Redecorating My Home for the Holidays

I was a bit stressed going into Thanksgiving, if my posts hadn’t already made that clear. And I was particularly bummed that I didn’t get to cook the holiday meal like I usually do. But looking on the brighter side, my post-Thanksgiving weekend was surprisingly good, and I’m actually really looking forward to the holiday season! Thursday night after dinner, I stopped by the Michael’s Black Friday sale (which started on Thursday night). Sweet_Cow_Ice_Cream

Yesterday was my birthday, and like last year’s extravaganza, I kicked off the celebrations by hosting a house party the night before. I went with a summery theme for the food, making a whole bunch of dips (French onion, buffalo chicken, crab dip, and yogurt fruit dip), two massive pots of low country boil, and strawberry shortcake for dessert. TGI Flyday: Unexpectedly Looking Forward to the Weekend

Thursday = Flyday in consulting land, and with all the winter storms going on, I was a little worried I wouldn’t make it out tonight. The Dallas forecast was “snow and thunderstorms”, which is pretty much the worst possible forecast you can ever have in Texas, and so I was checking my flight status most of the afternoon, prepared for the worst. Fortunately, I’m in flight now, and psyched to finally be sleeping in my own bed tonight. Tomorrow is a special Friday for the Denver office of my firm – it’s our annual Advisory Ski Trip! I am pretty …

Take a Moment For You (Sponsored by Evolution Fresh)

Closet_Partially_Organized

My week off from work has been amazing! I’ve had time to get a lot of things done around the house – from reupholstering my dining room chairs, to building shelving for my master closet, to building a wine cabinet and bookshelf for my basement rec room. (Lots of building!) I also went on a big home shopping spree at Tuesday Morning to get new pillows for my couches and new curtains for a lot of windows, and also hit some of the post-Christmas sales to get discounted holiday decorations for next year. It’s been really productive, and I’m thrilled. …
