Weekend Recap: Living My Best Isolation Life

Superior_From_Coyote_Ridge

This past weekend, I stayed home just as much as the previous weekend, and I was still just as alone at home. (Well, alone with Sesame!) But my attitude was so different this weekend… and it was a good one. I started the day by jumping right into my workout before anything else: a 60 minute yacht rock spin class with Jenn Sherman. These days, I’m used to doing an ab workout and walk with Sesame before my real workout, so I sometimes have trouble gearing up for an intense workout first thing. Yacht rock sounded like it would be pretty rhythm-focused… …

Isolation Diaries, Days 6-13: Peloton + Puppy

Sesame_Snoozing_During_Conference_Call

Today is day 13 for me of self-isolation. Eagle County, where my mountain house is, was a hotspot for COVID19 because of all the people flying into Vail / Beaver Creek from all over the world. So right after my last visit there, the Colorado Department of Public Health asked anyone who had been to Eagle County to self-isolate for 7-10 days. I wasn’t too bothered by the announcement, as I was planning to do that anyway, seeing how dire things were getting… but that didn’t mean isolation was easy. The first few days were pretty tough. Sunday_Sundaes

Well, the campaign has kicked into high gear, and that means it’s pretty much my sole focus for my free time! However, I’m trying to set aside at least one chunk of time a week to see my friends who don’t live in Superior, as I’m realizing it’s pretty lonely when I’m doing all campaigning all the time. There’s a lot of pressure to be “on”, even when I’m not technically campaigning and am just hanging out with my neighborhood friends, and I’m starting to go a little crazy. Theodora (who used to write about politics) told me that feeling of …

Weekend Recap: Essentialism in Scheduling

Razzle_Dazzle_2018

This was one of the best weekends I’ve had in a long time! A huge variety of activities, quality time with a lot of wonderful people, and some epiphanies about how I want to schedule my weekends in the future. Friday was pretty hectic at work, but it ended with the bimonthly women’s book club that I run. This month, we were discussing Greg McKeown’s Essentialism, which I found fascinating and inspiring – I’d highly recommend it. I had thought that essentialism was going to be primarily be about cleaning out stuff, a la Marie Kondo, but it actually focused …

Weekend Recap: Summer is (Almost) Here!

Laura_Heather_Cindy_Estes_Park_Elizabeths_Wedding

This weekend started earlier than most! I’ve been desperately needing a vacation for a while, but last month, realized that taking a day off every month was probably going to be the best I could do for a while. I was booked for training all day Thursday in Fort Lauderdale, and the session wrapped up too late for me to catch a flight home that night, so I decided to stick around, take a half day on Friday, and spend Friday morning soaking up the sun before flying home that afternoon. It was fabulous! Work calls ended up interrupting my …
