Drunk Gym

What’s the easiest way to motivate yourself to lift weights? Two words: drunk gym! Last night I went to dinner with my colleagues and enjoyed a glass of Malbec and a mojito with my meal – delicious. However, not only did I miss my alarm and therefore miss my morning workout, but I also broke the dieting rule of “pick two of the deadly three” (bread, drink, dessert) and indulged in all of them, so I desperately needed to get a workout in. After dinner, I made the responsible choice to skip the post-bar festivities and instead head back to …

First day of Slim, Calm, Sexy Yoga

I heard about Slim, Calm, Sexy Yoga from Melissa’s blog, and was totally intrigued. After all, who doesn’t want to be slim, cool, and sexy? Melissa’s little tidbit that she could totally see herself bringing it with her when I travel also got me jazzed. Gym Etiquette: Choosing Your Machine

I’ve come across a few humor sites like this one that teach the etiquette of choosing a urinal in a men’s room. It’s the one at the beginning of the row, chosen partially for an easy entrance/exit …

The freak of exercise science

I’m working from home, and while that doesn’t mean playtime, it does give me the flexibility to work longer hours but take breaks in the middle to take care of errands and such. Lately, I’ve also been going to the gym twice a day (in an effort to get rid of the tummy I’ve been gradually developing since I stopped running marathons). I started my hardcore workouts at the end of August when I was in Chicago for training (and was competing in that fitness challenge), and three weeks later, I’m definitely into the routine – I feel like a …

Turning the day around

Last night was the US Open, and I was going with my coworkers and bringing clients to it as a big event. I had a lot of fun playing hostess: offering drinks and snacks while we were in the limos riding over to the stadium, writing down orders and then playing runner for the concession stand and bar while at the event, etc. The game itself became a bit secondary to entertaining, but since we were watching two games where the outcomes were pretty clear right from the start (Wozniacki vs Cibulkova and Federer vs Soderling), I didn’t mind too …
