Great start to the day!

I managed to do a full 30 minutes of running on the treadmill! This is a pretty big accomplishment for me. When I run outside, I can go for hours… but when I run on the treadmill, I get bored within the first half mile and have to force myself to stay on. And it was hot in the gym too so I was sweating a ton, making not giving up even more of an accomplishment. But the best part about my morning so far? My favorite bellhop at the hotel has been out for the last two weeks, and …

Same nonsense, different airport

The other day, at a team dinner, my team had a good laugh when I mentioned the special screening I always get at the airport. It turns out it’s not a function of buying my ticket right before the flight, or that I buy one way tickets, or that I don’t check any baggage, because none of them get it consistently like I do. However, they said a guy on another team at our same client does get it every time, and we had a good laugh over the fact that I must be on some suspected terrorist list. Because …

Some new possibilities

Travel plans for the weekend of May 3 and 4 just changed, so now I have alt-travel dollars to spend. Would it be a completely dumb idea to do another race the day after the Brooklyn Half Marathon? I mean, even if I did a half-marathon… that’s just like running one marathon spread over two days. Right? Marathon Monday!

I have a long post from yesterday that I’m halfway done with, so I’ll post that later. But for now, just wanted to say how excited I am… the front runners in the marathon are only about 10 miles away! Time for me to head out because they’ll be here before I know it. Exciting to hear that they’re on track to set a course record, too. My plan is to walk down to mile 24 (it’s a block from my friend Adam’s apartment where I stayed last night), watch the leaders, then make a quick alcohol run and also …

Race Report: Cooper River Bridge Run

Sorry this is so delayed… I really need to get better about these reports or it will be July and you’ll be reading about my Turkey Trot! What can I say, work has been absolutely crazy lately (14+ hours/day!). On Friday, the Charlotte airport had a lot of delays, which pushed me about 3 hours back from my expected 1 PM arrival in Charleston. When my flight from Charlotte was finally boarding at 2:30, they asked for volunteers to step off and take the 4:30 flight instead. I seized the opportunity for a free roundtrip ticket anywhere in the country, …
