Running in the dark and talking to strangers

Basically, tonight I did several things that are very big not-supposed-tos. I ran in the dark in a city I didn’t know (and got lost in the process), without my cell phone in case of emergency, and then gave my phone number to a strange man who stopped me to flirt. It’s a good thing my mom doesn’t read my blog, or she would kill me! Here’s how it all went down… I got out of work really early tonight, and it was actually light out! I was amazed. It took absolutely forever for my cab to get me back …

Trading the river run for an indoor cycle

This morning I managed to drag myself out of my Heavenly Bed at 5:45 AM, intending to get a nice long run in before getting ready and going off to work. Andy had kindly provided me with a great running map of the Charles River, which was good because I still haven’t gotten my act together to stop by the concierge desk and pick up the running maps that are supposed to be available. Race Report: 15K Colon Cancer Challenge

So after all that blogging about how I was going to run 18 miles today and maybe I would run the course twice… I felt like crap and it took all my energy not to give up in the first mile. On Biggest Loser, the contestants work out for 4-6 hours a day… craziness. I knew it would be …

Big News Friday

Last night, the managing director of the office sent out an announcement about the Wall Street Journal accolades to the entire office, so I’ve been getting bombarded with congratulations e-mails from everyone I know and even a few that I don’t. This paper is a huge deal and I’m so glad that I got to work on it! We finalized the edits on it today, and it will hopefully be published next week. I’m not necessarily thrilled with the final product – we had a “professional” writer work on it, and I think his edits actually make the piece less …

I ran Boston!

Okay, not the Boston Marathon. But I did finally drag myself out of bed early enough to get a real workout in. When I saw that it wasn’t raining and it was fairly warm (34 F – all you southerners are laughing at me right now for calling that warm), I pulled on my running clothes and headed out the door. I had no idea where I was going, and in my haste to leave the hotel I had neglected to stop to get a running map from the front desk. No matter. I figured I’d make my own route. …
