Get More Energy by Giving More Energy

How has it been for me giving up caffeine this month? Not so good. I chose this goal in large part because I was hoping it would encourage me to sleep more, but I’ve recently found that even when I arrange a free morning where I can sleep as late as I want, the most I can get myself to sleep is 7.5 hours. I determined a few years ago on a solo vacation that 8 hours a night is the perfect amount of sleep for me (although of course maybe that’s changed now)… but I just have not quite …

Apps I Love: Wappwolf

Every so often, something bad happens to my phone. Sometimes it’s my own fault – like when I run in the rain without protecting it well and it shorts out. Sometimes it’s been someone else’s fault – like when it got stolen from me by a busboy at a restaurant (note: do not ever go to Vynl in Hell’s Kitchen). And sometimes it’s been no one’s fault – like when the SD card mysteriously stopped working just moments after I had gotten a pic with Deena Kastor. Generally when …

How I Developed My To-Do List to GSD: Part 2

When I wrote my last post about how I developed my to-do list to GSD, I promised a follow up to include some more advanced details of how I categorize and tag my tasks, a sample file, plus some reasons why this system works for me but may not work for you. And here it is! First off, let me start by offering a sample to-do list workbook for you to download. To be clear, this workbook isn’t even remotely complicated, but why reinvent the wheel? Start with my version and then customize it to your own liking. (To download …

How I Developed My To-Do List to GSD

As we approach the end of my month of GSD, I wanted to do a post about exactly how I GSD, and what my to-do list system is. I don’t use any super fancy tool (mine is actually a multisheet Excel workbook!) but I’ve refined it over the last few years so it really works for me. I’ve always kept my to-do list on the computer rather than writing it down. Even when I would hand write my to-do list on the plane when I was under 10,000 feet, I would transcribe it to my laptop the second the “double …
