Health Scare, with No Answers

Happy_Face_After_11_Vials_Of_Blood

Those of you who follow me on Instagram know that the last few days have been pretty tumultuous for me. On my flight home on Thursday night, I had a weird cognitive issue where I lost my ability to read/write, and understand language. It started pretty extreme, where all of a sudden the words in the book I was reading made no sense whatsoever. Then it gradually lessened, to where if I stopped to think about each word separately and what it meant, and then tried putting the words together, I could slowly understand a sentence…. but that’s still pretty …

Class Review: Pound Fitness

Grami_Christine_And_Laura_Pound_Fitness

The last few Saturdays, I’ve been going to a trendy new workout class that’s a ton of fun: Pound Fitness. I first heard about Pound Fitness several years ago, but never had a studio offering it near me… until now. Two months ago, I saw it on Classpass and immediately knew I wanted to check it out. I assumed it would be primarily a cardio class, so scheduled it after a 5K morning race – figuring it would be good to burn a few more calories but hopefully wouldn’t be too taxing. And I would say that was about 50% right. In …

Jumby_Bay_Mahi_Trio_Salad

One of the best parts about consulting is how we move around from project to project, applying experience in one industry/situation to another. One month I’m working on a business case for a new product in the tech industry, the next, I’m writing change management communications for a pharmaceutical client. I’m always learning something new, and there’s definitely never any opportunity to get bored or complacent! That’s why I came back to consulting after a brief stint working “in industry” (as we call the other side of the table), and it really makes my job fulfilling. But on the flip side, that …

Why I Weigh Myself Every Day (Review: EatSmart Digital Scale)

EatSmart_Digital_Scale

This morning, I jumped on my scale after waking up (and doing my 10/20/30 and hitting the bathroom). I was pretty pumped to see that my weight is the lowest it’s been in seven years, and more than ten pounds from where I was two years ago. And the best part is, because I weigh myself every day, I know this isn’t some crazy anomaly. There is a common piece of advice in the weight loss world that you shouldn’t weigh yourself daily, the logic being that it will just stress you out to see the daily fluctuations. But in my …
