April Goal Progress: Week 1 Check In

Well, my first week of trying to get eight hours of sleep every night has actually been quite successful! Even if I go so far as to measure it by actual hours slept (rather than by effort like I had originally planned) I did pretty well. Here, take a look: Unfortunately, despite all of this sleeping I still caught a cold. On Monday night I started developing that tight feeling in my throat that indicates something bad is about to happen, and that continued all through Tuesday but didn’t materialize. Until Wednesday, when I woke up feeling terrible. I considered staying home (i.e., …

How ClassPass Helps Me Commit to My Workouts

I’ve mentioned that I use ClassPass to book my workouts at boutique studios. For $99 a month, I get unlimited classes (up to three per month per studio) at a ton of studios I love! However, the other catch besides three classes per studio per month is that you can only sign up for classes a week in advance – and a lot of the studios that I like tend to fill up, sometimes even before availability is open to ClassPass holders. So, I’ve gotten in the habit of logging on every morning and booking my workout for six days out …

Beyond_Pilates_Woodway_Curve

I know it’s Monday, and I should be doing a report on my monthly goals… but let’s save that for tomorrow. (Spoiler alert: didn’t hit 100k steps this week. This last week of March I need to get after it!) Mondays are always tough for me since I get up by 3:30am to commute to work. While I’m usually a morning exerciser, there’s no way I’m setting my alarm any earlier than I have to with that kind of wakeup call! Instead, I usually work my butt off in the car to the airport and on the plane so that I can feel …

Sponsored Giveaway: Title Nine Sports Bras

Shock_Absorber_Sports_Bra

I think we’ve all heard the stat that 80% of women are wearing the wrong bra size… and yet, all of us think that can’t possibly be us. I went to a sports bra fitting a few years ago in Dallas, and so thought for sure that I wasn’t in the “wrong bra size” group now. But after receiving a personalized fitting this morning at Title Nine in Boulder, I realized that over the last few years I’ve actually drifted away from my correct size and might need to readjust. While the average American woman wears a 36C bra, the vast majority of …

Trying Out Cryotherapy: My Experiences at -195°F

I’m told that my neighborhood got more than 2 feet of snow today – yikes! Fortunately, I’m in Dallas, where it’s sunny and with temps in the 70s. But tonight, I headed to a place even colder than Boulder: the cryotherapy chamber at Cryozone Dallas. I first heard about cryotherapy from a Daily Burn article last year. I found it to be an intriguing concept, but assumed it would always be way out of my price range. Those kinds of techniques are only for professional athletes, right? And then the rest of us can just suffer through at-home ice baths and using a …
