Unveiling the Workforce of the Future

Governor_Hickenlooper_and_Laura

I know that I’ve alluded to it a lot lately, but this was a really busy summer for me with work. I was working on several clients simultaneously, and just a few days after work on my last two projects concluded, I’m already staffed somewhere new. No breaks for me, but I’m okay with that – the work I’m doing lately is so awesome that I will give up as much vacation as needed to keep doing it! Most of the consulting I do is confidential – we don’t really disclose either who our clients are or the work that …

Solo Hiking Report: Mount Spaulding and Mount Evans

Rocky_West_Ridge_of_Mount_Evans

This has been a pretty busy few weeks for me! This week I am wrapping up the second of two major projects I’ve been working on over the last year, and I’m also gearing up to start my new project next Monday. (Stay tuned for more on all of those work things.) But last week, I was clocking 12-16 hours of work each day, and by Friday, I desperately needed a break. I knew that I would still be working a lot over the weekend, but I wanted at least a little bit of a reprieve. After studying the weather …

Neighborhood_Walk

This weekend, with Adam‘s help, I went back to the simple life. We spent Friday night at the baseball game downtown, where my company hosts an annual event with amazing field-level seats. (The old one broke, which means I am officially replacing my kitchen appliances one at a time until everything is stainless.) Adam installed the dishwasher for me while I tackled learning how to reupholster the chairs of my new (to me) dining set …

Finding the Three Ps: Place, Person, and Passion

My company has an amazing executive coaching center of excellence. Over the last two years, I’ve been fortunate enough to not only get to work with some of the great coaches they’ve hired, but also to become friends with one of the coaches who’s based in our Denver office. Last week, we were catching up at an office happy hour, and she told me about a neat concept that a mentor had taught her: Everyone goes through life seeking “the three Ps”: place, person, and passion. It’s up to each of us to find the place, person, and passion where …

Setting a Deadline on Tubing to Work

Tube_To_Work_Day

Today I headed to work in a somewhat unusual way. You’ve heard of National Bike to Work Day, right? Well, Boulder takes that a step further – today was the 8th annual Tube to Work Day! Except… that’s actually not me in the picture. That’s just some random girl who happens to be my exact doppelganger! (And it freaks me out every time I look at that picture and still think she looks exactly like me.) Except that I don’t own those sneakers or those pants or that sweater and I did not, in fact, tube to work today. I …
