Skirt Chasing

I haven’t even run my half-marathon on Sunday yet, but I’m already thinking about future races. I know I should probably be horribly offended by this, but… I want to be chased in a skirt. Preferably a pink one. And by a hot runner guy. I wish there was one of these races near me, though if I get on a travel project next, I suppose it won’t matter because I could go anywhere for a race. However, then I wouldn’t meet skirt chasing guys that live in Manhattan and that I could actually date. And isn’t that what running …

Healthy Meal: Champagne Chicken and Baby Beluga Lentil Salad

When I was at Trader Joe’s yesterday, the sample of the day was black beluga lentils on a bed of lettuce, with a balsamic vinaigrette on top. I thought it was delicious, and grabbed a bag of the beluga lentils so I could try making it myself. While I was trying to decide what to pair with it, my mom sent me a link to some recipes from French Women Don’t Get Fat (I had read the book several times before, but not really tried many recipes after trying the leek soup diet for a day or two and hating …

Healthy Meal: Finnish-Style Split Pea Soup

Today for lunch, I present Finnish-Style Pea Soup. I found this recipe through Constance at The DIY Diet, whom I’ve profiled before. Constance has tons of really low-cal recipes, and I love a good soup. I’ve actually never had pea soup before, but I had some pork to use up (which I figured could substitute for the ham), so I thought I’d give it a try. Recipe notes:I didn’t want to make a ton of this, so I cut it down by using 1/2 cup split peas, 1 whole carrot, 3 oz pork tenderloin, 1 stalk celery, 1 red potato, …

Stop yapping while I’m trying to work out!

Last night while at the gym, a little itty bitty girl all decked out in her Victoria’s Secret Pink workout clothes hops on the elliptical next to me. You know the kind of girl I mean – she looked like the kind of girl who would wear pearl earrings while running. Anyway, she pulled out her headphones, plugged them into the jack for the TV, and started flipping through the channels, while I happily continued watching The Biggest Loser and pedaling away. Then – she doesn’t put the headphones on. She leaves them sitting on her elliptical, and pulls out …

Fitness Break: Wine Tasting in Boston

Vanilla posted today about a new recovery drink, which he nicknamed “Cabern-ade Sauvignon.” This sounds like a brilliant idea to me. After all, we learned a few months ago that beer helps you recover faster than just drinking water, so why not wine? Okay, now that the obligatory “connection to fitness” is out of the way, I can post what I really wanted to write about: a story about this fantastic wine store I visited in Boston yesterday. While lying around on the couch watching movies (we saw 5 in two days… impressive, huh? Actually just really, really lazy) and …
