Adventure Inspiration: Banff Mountain Film Fest

Banff-Mountain-Film-Fest

Tomorrow is March 1st, which means it’s about time for me to recap my favorite TED talks of February. However, today I want to talk about an awesome and inspiring event I attended last night: the Banff Mountain Film Festival. Wondering what the Banff Mountain Film Festival is, and how I got to see it in Denver? Basically, the regular festival (which features all short films and documentaries about mountain culture and adventure sports) takes place in Banff; however, immediately after the regular festival, the best films from the festival go on a world tour of 305 cities in 20 …

App I Love: Duolingo

The Power of Massive Scale Online Collaboration

This isn’t going to be my typical app I love post. Usually, I write about apps that I love for their functionality. Today, however, I’m writing about an app that functions well… but that I love for its purpose and the goal behind it. I first heard about Duolingo from Ashley, who used it to help with her move to Switzerland and all the traveling she’s done from there. Last spring, when I was planning to go to Germany for the Pulheim Marathon, I used Duolingo for a few weeks to try to learn some elementary German so that I’d …

Race Report: Lost Dutchman Marathon (DNF)

I usually write a Night Before the Race post, because I think the two days leading up to the race are really important to performance and you don’t get the full picture of the race without them. This time, though, I kind of covered everything leading up to the race in my weekend recap… but left you hanging with what happened in the race. Well, that’s a bit of a story! On Saturday night, Adam and I went to bed at the party-hardy time of 7pm (whatever, we spent the day at a beer festival)… but then woke up at …
