Ohio = check!

Finished Akron in a respectable 4:20, despite my knee spasming at mile 15 and the volunteers trying to make me go to the medical tent. It really wasn’t that bad! I told them, “are you kidding me??? The last time it did this was much worse, and I was only at mile 6, and I walked the rest. If you think I’m quitting at mile 15, you are crazier than I am.” The runners around me cheered 🙂

I did not see Viper, which is sad because I had three extra beer tickets for him (can’t drink because I have to drive to the airport). However, he must have passed me at some point, because I started super fast (the 3:40 pace group passed me at mile 8) and slowed as I went, so I’m sure he was in there somewhere. As a consolation prize, I registered for Portland within 5 minutes of arriving back at my hotel, so I get to meet more of you wonderful people 🙂 Most people run a marathon thinking “why am I doing this”; I run a marathon thinking “when I get home I want to sign up for next weekend’s race!”

Now it’s time for me to get a shower in, because I am disgusting. More to come!

  1. Hey Laura, great time in that race. I am so jealous of the Brooks you are getting because I totally need a new pair.

    Anyway, I was just stopping by to let you know that I left something for you at my blog.

    Have a great trip.

    P.S. Don’t freak when you see my blog, I made a bunch of changes recently but it’s still me.

  2. Great job, Laura! You’re such a little speed demon. 🙂

    I now can’t wait to read all the Portland posts. Sounds like it’s going to be a fabulous time.

  3. Great job, Laura! I must have passed you and then you passed me again at around Mile 19-20. Sorry we didn’t get to meet up. I got three beers anyway because I’m just that smooth! Hope you enjoyed your brief trip to Ohio. Cheers!
