Race Report: Freihofer’s Run for Women 5K

It was supposed to rain and thunderstorm all morning, and I was thrilled. Unlike most races, where I dread the sight of rainclouds, I was hoping that the storms might keep some people home from the race and make it easier for me to fight way through the crowds at the start. However, no such luck. Although it looked like it might rain, there were no drops falling from the sky, and as I got in the car, I told my mom that I was disappointed. It was probably going to rain, but because it wasn’t raining already, it didn’t …

Impulsive moves: joining a running club and signing up for two 5Ks

Still not done with the marathon race report, but I did accomplish some running-related things tonight: signed up for two 5Ks, attended a pasta party for one of them, and joined a running club! Tomorrow is the Freihofer’s Run for Women, an annual 5K in Albany that attract a ton of elite talent every year. I’ve been attending since I was little, and last year was my first year running it. Quick interim post

Working on finishing my full race report sometime tonight, but I was taking a break to catch up on some blog reading and found this awesome post by Perry. Can I count my Friday and …

Lying on the beach is a good form of training!

I’ve been meaning to do Take It And Run Thursday for monthly, but I am finally making the commitment. From now on, expect my contribution weekly. (If you don’t know what TIART is, check out the bottom of this post). I have a feeling that most people’s articles this week are going to be about how much they hate the heat and how to avoid running in it. Run on a treadmill, run in the early morning or late evening, run in the pool, run in Antarctica, etc. For the other crazies out there, I’m going to take a different …

Wednesday night updates

Just got home from dinner, and I really really want dessert. We went for Indian food, and everyone decided it would be a good idea to have one person order a ton of stuff for the whole table to share. I was a complete snob and ordered something separate, so that I could ask for it without butter. I’m actually being really good about this whole “no food” list thanks to my cholesterol, and it’s making me more assertive about what I eat. However, we didn’t get dessert and I really really want it. Room service only has really unhealthy …
