Review / Giveaway: 34 Degrees Crisps

This weekend, I managed to pack in a lot of fun stuff. I kicked off a long weekend by flying home a day early to volunteer at my office’s take-your-kids-to-work-day. Wow, that has changed so much since I was a kid! I remember going to my mom’s office in downtown Albany (she worked for the State of New York before she retired), doing a 30 minute tour of the office along with the other dozen or so kids who attended, and then either hanging out at her desk playing with office supplies, or sometimes, being put to work in the …

Review/Giveaway: Fairlife Milk and Magic Bullet Blender

When I got home to Colorado this weekend, I had (and still have) a lot to do to make it really feel like “home.” My closet hadn’t been unpacked yet, nor had my bookcases. And while I had unpacked the kitchen, I hadn’t taken enough grocery trips to truly stock it up. Since I travel four days a week, my pantry is mostly stocked with dry goods and frozen food – anything that goes in the fridge has to be something that will last. Of course I eat fresh fruits and vegetables, but I try to buy only enough for …

Review / Giveaway: Spirit of the Marathon II

Saturday’s Rock N Roll San Diego was one of the best I’ve been to a long time. I was really impressed with the array of vendors and brands there to represent, which included many of my favorites (hi, Westin!). But one of the booths offered something even more special than socks or protein bars – the promotional booth for Spirit of the Marathon II: Rome Marathon. Both Blake and I had entered a lottery before the race to win tickets to see a sneak preview of Spirit of the Marathon II before it came out in the theaters on Wednesday …

Giveaway: SELF Magazine Workout in the Park NYC!

So remember how I decided to do Insanity? It was in part because a friend invited me and in part to save money, but it was also partially because I remembered it being OMGTHEHARDESTWORKOUTEVER and I thought it would whip me into insane shape. Instead, I found out that I’m apparently already in much better shape than I thought I was – and that maybe it’s not right for me after all. The first workout of Insanity is a fit test. You do eight exercises for one minute each, as fast as you can, counting the reps as you go …

Review/Giveaway: Feetures Compression Socks

A few weeks ago, Feetures generously offered me their compression socks to review. I was quite intrigued – I’ve never tried compression socks, but have heard a ton from other runners and scientific research that they really help performance and recovery. Still, I warned Feetures that they’d be subject to my standard review policy: I won’t promise to post a positive review, but would write my honest opinion, take-it-or-leave-it. They were confident enough in their product to send me the socks anyway… and I really liked them! Let’s face it, I have never been the most high-tech person with my …
