Ah, the Monday morning pat-down…

I get special security screening 90% of the time I travel, because I’m quite a suspicious character. I always buy my tickets at the airport, usually with less than an hour until the flight (sometimes, less than 30 minutes). I always buy one way tickets, never round-trip. Because who knows when the client will let me go home? I always glide through security with the self-assured air of someone who knows the system very well. Maybe too well. And clearly, I just look like a terrorist. Is it sad that when the security guard feels me up, that’s the most …

I’m in the Wall Street Journal!!!

Not in the “I ran Boston” fake sense either… I am actually in the WSJ. My name isn’t in there and it’s not the print version (though apparently they may be doing a writeup later), but the research paper that I co-authored was featured as the lead story on WSJ.com. Hopefully more press is forthcoming. I’m so excited!!! To get published and get national recognition as a first year analyst is way beyond my expectations, and I am thrilled. Worse if you get a flavored bagel like Asiago Cheese or Cinnamon Crunch, my …

I did much better today than yesterday at the conference. After the cookie incident in the afternoon, there was another cookie incident – I had a few glasses of wine that helped me decide it would be a good idea to chow down on two more cookies for dessert. On the positive side, after the original cookie incident, I found out that my meeting actually started at 5 instead of 4, so I threw on some workout clothes and got in a quick 2.4 miles on the treadmill before showering, throwing my business clothes back on, and returning to the …

What would you do if money was no object?

With Friday’s post about my job, and me being away for the weekend but still unfortunately working right now, I thought it would be a good time to discuss a question my Director asks all new team members at our “welcome to the team” lunch. (On a side note, this week at that lunch, I did a great job eating healthy for the meal: no bread, drank water, and got grilled salmon with lentils as my entree… but then I ate a 700 cal bread pudding for dessert. It was SO worth it though.) Anyway, the question is: if all …
