My Week in Food

This week, I’ve been out to dinner every night. First up was BLT Burger, where we were going specifically to try the alcoholic milkshakes. I ate lightly during the day in order to save up for it (yogurt for breakfast, veggie salad for lunch), so I was all set, right? Well, except that on my lunch break I read a FlyerTalk post discussing where the best onion rings in the country could be found. I had never really thought it before, but once I read the descriptions… there are a lot of ways to make onion rings! Pieced together onions …

Week in Review: Progress Toward Regaining the Consulting 15

Well, I did a decent job of eating yesterday. Already posted about my breakfast, but for lunch we went to an upscale burger place called Mike Ditka’s. The portions were among the biggest I’d ever seen, and a lot of people opted for the taco salad, which came in one of those taco shell bells and was absolutely gigantic. When mine came out, I’ll admit to feeling let down by the average-to-small size of the dish, though I know it was better for my waistline. A new form of pounding the pavement

Yesterday I got an invite to do my midyear review. Today I walked into the meeting and an HR rep was there. No review was done and my performance was not discussed. Instead, we discussed the poor economy and my severance package. Forget the singlet and sneakers… it’s time to hit the streets of New York in a suit and stilettos, resumes in hand. Unfortunately, the field in this race is larger than what I’m used to (and growing by the day), there aren’t mile markers to keep me on track, and I don’t know when (or if) I’ll finish. …

Kill me. Now.

The number one thing you don’t want to hear while being interviewed for a new project:“How comfortable are you with working 80-90 hours/week for an extended period of time?” Of course, I had to answer along the lines of, “oh, I am such a hard worker! I will do anything for the firm! Thank you for the opportunity to give my life away!” I should have made up a disease that requires me to get 10 hours of sleep every night.
