Weekend Recap: Much-Anticipated In Town Time

Chris_Birthday_Sunset

This weekend, for once, I wasn’t going up to the mountains; instead, I was staying in town for some special events I had been planning for a while. I was excited! Friday was a busy day for me at work, made even busier when I saw a steal of a deal on a sectional outdoor sofa on Facebook Marketplace and dropped everything to immediately pick it up. Patio furniture is one of those COVID products that has become impossible to find; every store is completely sold out / backordered, and I’ve been reluctant to order online sight unseen because patio …

Weekend Recap: Chicago to Denver and Not a Moment to Lose

Spencer_Laura_Chicago

Weekend of October 19-20 This weekend went by fast. I had workshops in Chicago on Friday morning, and since I had a lot of colleagues I wanted to catch up with, I decided to book an evening flight home to give myself a little bit more time there. I didn’t regret the decision, and had a blast reconnecting with some people I haven’t seen in months… but it did mean that I was only home for two days before I had to fly out again. However, our Denver celebration was scheduled to be outside on a lake with boating and paddleboarding – fabulous when Colorado is having its usual sunny warm summer weather, but miserable-sounding …

Sunday_Sundaes

Well, the campaign has kicked into high gear, and that means it’s pretty much my sole focus for my free time! However, I’m trying to set aside at least one chunk of time a week to see my friends who don’t live in Superior, as I’m realizing it’s pretty lonely when I’m doing all campaigning all the time. There’s a lot of pressure to be “on”, even when I’m not technically campaigning and am just hanging out with my neighborhood friends, and I’m starting to go a little crazy. Theodora (who used to write about politics) told me that feeling of …

Healthy Recipe: Turkey Shepherd’s Pie

St. Patrick's Day House Party

Remember how one of my New Year’s resolutions was to have people over at my home at least once a week? I’m not doing well with my other resolutions but that one is going strong. One of my biggest reasons for wanting to host people so often was that I hoped it would make me less uptight and more go-with-the-flow, rather than stressing out about every little detail. Well, you can’t get much more relaxed and go-with-the-flow than everyone sitting around a blanket on the floor in my new den! Even though I just closed on my house yesterday morning …
