Weekend Recap: Virtual Wine Tasting and Bear / South Boulder Peak Loop

Sadie_Basking_at_Bear_Peak

Friday was a good day at work, and it ended with something extra fun: a healthy happy hour riding on the Peloton with two of my coworkers! We did a Kendall class that was all emo music from the 2000s, and it was really fun. There was something wonky going on with the leaderboard, so we couldn’t high five each other, but I found it actually didn’t take much away from the workout to keep my phone perched on the handlebars and send messages to each other in a group Gchat while we were riding. We are going to make …

Weekend Recap: Netflix and Hills

Maple_Streusel_French_Toast

Once again, I started my Friday with a hike – this time up Rattlesnake Gulch to the Continental Divide Overlook, a shorter hike so I could be home in time for my 8am call. Although there were a few icy sections, Sadie and I managed to finish the entire roundtrip in just 75 minutes. I am looking forward to setting some hiking PRs when the snow melts and we can go fast! After a full day of work, I headed to Safeway to pick up a frozen pizza (their Safeway Select brand is my favorite frozen pizza), and my mom …

Weekend Recap: Three Day MLK Weekend

Running_Down_Doudy_Draw

This year, my company declared Martin Luther King Day a holiday – so I went into Friday knowing I had a three day weekend ahead. To boost my mood even more, I took Sadie for an early morning hike up to Royal Arch – and we had an amazing time! It was an absolutely beautiful hike, and even though it was only 21°, we were both bundled up and it didn’t feel that cold. I was grateful that the cold kept other people off the trail – we had it almost all to ourselves, and saw only two other pairs …

Weekend Recap: Lazy Weekend at Home

Binging_Garretts_Popcorn

Although this was my first week back at work after the holiday break, it was a short week for me… stressful! But because there hadn’t been much terrain open at Beaver Creek in December when I first went for training, we were asked to come back for two days of follow up training, focused around levels and terrain progression (i.e., which trails are appropriate for which levels of students and which order should you progress students from one trail to the next). I drove up to the mountains on on Wednesday night – after my mom’s last day of chemo, …

Weekend Recap: Happy New Year!

NYE_Ball_Drop

Although my consulting firm had our holiday shutdown and I was technically off work all week, I had a different kind of work scheduled – ski instructing at Beaver Creek! I had an absolutely amazing time teaching seven classes, mostly levels 4 and 5 (linking turns and getting parallel on easy blue terrain), and even ended up with a high-ranking political official in one of my classes! (No, not Mike Pence, though he was apparently skiing in Beaver Creek all week.) I was especially psyched that several of my guests came back for repeat classes with me, so I got …
