Monday Morning Travel Breakfast: Banana Wheatberry Pudding

On Mondays, I have to be up and out of the apartment by 5am – which, if I want as much sleep as possible, doesn’t allow for making breakfast at home. I could rely on getting food at the airport, but the options aren’t that great at my terminal, and I sometimes cut it so close that I don’t have time to stop anyway. I’ve come to rely on making a banana breakfast pudding the night before. With the addition of a ton of chia seeds to thicken it, I can get it to a solid consistency that is allowed …

Q1 New Year’s Resolution Progress Report

I can’t believe we’re already coming up on the month of April. The year is a quarter of the way over already! (And despite paying for a TurboTax software package back in January that I split with some friends, I still haven’t filed my taxes. So much for getting them done early!) On Friday night, I was invited to another friend’s birthday (it was a big weekend for birthdays – in addition to my own party, I had three others I was supposed to attend!). The catch: it was a Jersey Shore themed party. After moaning and groaning to my friend Jess about how I didn’t want to dress all trashy and Jersey Shore-like, particularly because it would make me look like an idiot if I wanted to stop anywhere else, I ended up getting into the spirit and throwing …

The spirit of a marathoner

Yesterday, I was sent a blog by a fellow 50 State Club member. While I usually read lots of interesting and wonderful blog posts, this one was disturbing: its primary purpose was to attack another marathon runner who allegedly cheated in a race a few years ago. Cheating in a race is a pretty serious offense, and I won’t defend Dane for doing so if that’s what happened (though I really doubt it given what I know of Dane). However, in attempting to disparage Dane, the blog authors also wrote a post called 52 marathons in a year is not …
