Odd Moments in Online Dating

“Yeah, it’s my goal to be the youngest woman to run a marathon in all 50 states.”“Oh wow, I think I read your blog. Are you the Laura from Absolut(ly) Fit?” … Yes, that’s me. Now you can read all about my life and decide if you still want that first date. While we’re at it, any other readers interested? I’ve always tried to write a pretty uncensored account of things (achievable only by not alerting friends/family to the fact that I have a blog and/or where to find it), but I have to admit it would be nice to …

What goes up, must come down

Tried to go to work. Well, actually tried to go to Ash Wednesday services and then work, but whatever – I never made it to either place. I woke up feeling really sick to my stomach (yes, I was drinking last night, but certainly not enough to cause any kind of hangover). However, I am so out of it now today. I’m not sure if my early flight means there are going to be activities tomorrow (at my old firm, we had social events at training, but there were about 150 analysts starting at the same time there – this is a bit different). In any case, in the spirit of learning from my mistakes, I thought it would be to reflect on what I did and did not accomplish while I was unemployed. On the negative …

Last post for a while

While I was lying in bed crying “I want my mommy,” I got my wish. My dad called and my grandfather passed away this morning. My mom’s passport is expired so she’s coming to New York to hopefully get an expedited version so we can fly to Warsaw for the funeral. The question is whether I’ll be okay to fly? Right now I can barely make it to the bathroom, which is 10 feet away. The kitchen is about 20 feet and that’s just too far. So negotiating an airport and customs and all of that? I really hope I …
