Race Report: Olathe Marathon

I arrived in Kansas City after a very smooth nonstop flight from New York, and met up with my new friend and roommate, Morgan. My friend Jackie had organized the room plan for herself, me, Morgan, and another guy Eric, and I was shocked when I found out Morgan was about my age and worked in revenue management for another airline. You mean there are two of us who do marathons? So cool! We had about a 30 minute drive from the airport to Olathe, Kansas, where the marathon was, and we chattered nonstop about the airline industry and various …

Virginia is for lovers April 17

This weekend, I was supposed to run the Virginia Creeper Marathon on Sunday. I don’t know what it is, but Virginia just seems to be a terribly unlucky state for me… I never get there and never make it to the race (Richmond Marathon non-report still to come)! This week, the issue was just that the flights were too full for my standby-traveling self. With 16 people ahead of me on the standby list (for a sold out plane that only holds 100 people), I decided not to even bother making the trek out to the airport and wasting my …

Race Report: National Marathon

I took a half day at work on Friday so my mom and I could get out on a 1:30pm flight. I was so thrilled to have her with me for this trip! My mom is so supportive and I just love having her along with me for marathons. This one was especially nice because it was a quick and easy trip that I knew she’d enjoy (she’s not a fan of long plane rides). We arrived in Dulles around 3pm, and were quickly met by my friend Jackie’s husband, Pons. Jackie and Pons live right near the airport, so …

Race Report: Run Through Time Marathon

I had a bit of a crazy time getting to the race, though it was more a fault of our plan than any big mishaps. My friends and I were on a 9pm flight out of JFK that ended up about 30 minutes delayed – not a huge deal, but cost us some time. When we landed, it took longer than we expected to get our bags/ski equipment, get our rental car, and drive to Keystone Resort where we were staying. We finally got in around 3am, and I had to be on the road at 6am to get to …

Ski + Knee = Sad Me

Race report from this weekend is almost done – assuming I don’t have too much green beer on Wednesday night, I’m aiming to get it posted then. However, the after the race part is what I’d really like to discuss today. On Sunday morning (day after the marathon), I woke up early to try to make first tracks at Keystone. It took us forever to get packed up and out of the condo (there was only one elevator and a ton of people trying to leave), but luckily, the gondola was literally across the street. UNluckily, the gondola was closed …
